The scholarships listed below are those that were available on 12/15/2011. Check back weekly for an updated listing. Before applying for any of the scholarships below please complete and print out the general information form to be turned in with any completed application.

IL General Assembly
Deadline: March 23, 2012
The Illinois General Assembly Scholarship is available to seniors who have been accepted to a 4 year public university in Illinois (Western, Northern, Eastern, Illinois State, University of Illinois, etc.). Applications are in the G.O. and are due by March 23, 2012.

University of IL – Child of Veteran
Deadline: March 1, 2012
There is a scholarship available for any senior who is a child of a veteran and is planning to attend any one of the University of Illinois campuses. The scholarship is for full tuition and is renewable. See the GO for more information or go to www.osfa.illinois.edu.

 

VeitNow Scholarship

The Rock River VietNow recognizes the important part that education plays in making America a strong and great nation. In order to aid in the educational process of America's students, we have established three individual scholarship funds.  These funds will be put into an account at the school selected by the successful applicant.  Credits to the account may be used for tuition, books, fees or supplies.

ED SLAIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP- One (1) $2000 scholarship awarded to a B to C+ student with an excellent citizenship record who has a desire to serve his/her community. 

Sara Elizabeth Stubblefield Memorial Scholarship
Deadline: April 30th, 2012
The Sara Elizabeth Stubblefield Memorial Scholarship will provide financial support for the pursuit of higher education to a student living with epilepsy. The applicant must be under a physician's care. Applications are in the G.O.

SAUK VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS
Application deadline is May 1st
Dixon High School seniors who plans to attend Sauk Valley College will be awarded a scholarship covering tuition and fees for an academic year.  The scholarship will be renewed for a second year, provided the student maintains a prescribed level of academic performance.  Applicants must rank in the top 10% of their class or have an ACT Composite score at the 90th percentile or above.  Applications are available in the Counseling Office. 

ROCK RIVER CHAPTER OF VIETNOW SCHOLARSHIPS
Application deadline is March 31st
Scholarships awarded to students in the Lee, Whiteside and Ogle County area. Preference is given to a relative of a member of Rock River VietNow, but other students are encouraged to apply.

EDUCATORS OF BEAUTY SCHOLARSHIPS
Application deadline is April 28th
One $1,000 scholarship and three $500 scholarships are awarded to Dixon High School seniors who plan to attend any of the Educators of Beauty cosmetology schools.  See Mrs. Ebert in the GO for applications.                       

DIXON EDUCATION ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPS
Application deadline is April 15th
Two $500 scholarships are awarded to Dixon High School seniors with a 3.0 and above who plan to enroll as full-time students in any accredited college or university.  Selection is based upon financial need, scholarship, and school and community activities.  Special consideration is given to DEA dependents and/or education majors.  An essay detailing the applicant’s future plans is also required.

TRI-COUNTY OPPORTUNITIES COUNCIL SCHOLARSHIPS
Application deadline is April 20nd
Twelve scholarships up to $1500 are awarded to students from low-income families who demonstrate a commitment to civic and public affairs. At least one scholarship will be awarded to a student in each of Tri-County's nine county service areas. 

KIWANIS CLUB OF DIXON SCHOLARSHIP
Application deadline is April 15th 
The Kiwanis Club of Dixon offers a $1000 scholarship to a senior who will be attending Sauk Valley Community College. A 3.0 or better gpa is required and Sauk Valley Scholars are not eligible.  

ANDREA FOX SCHOLARSHIP
Application deadline is April 15th
One Dixon High School senior who plans to attend Sauk Valley College will be awarded a $1000 scholarship. Sauk Scholars are not eligible to apply.

Dolph and Karen Ricks Family Scholarship

Applications due April 15th
A $500 non-renewable scholarship will be awarded to three DHS seniors upon enrollment in an accredited college or university. The student must have been a Reagan Middle School Graduate, earned a 2.0 or higher GPA in high school, and been active in school, community activities, and church. Special consideration will be given to Education majors and students who worked as corn detasselers. Applications are available in the GO.

The Ake L. Dahlquist Memorial Scholarship

Applications due April 15th
To honor the memory of Ake L. Dahlquist, one $1500 scholarship will be awarded to a student who has earned at least a 2.5 GPA and plans to major in Engineering or Business Administration at a four year accredited university. Applications are available in the GO.

Dixon Public School Foundation Post-Secondary Scholarship

Deadline April 15th in the Guidance Office   
Through the generosity of an anonymous donor, the Dixon Public School Foundation has established a scholarship for Dixon High School students who plan on continuing their higher education at a community college, tech school, or four year university.

ELMER ADEE AND PAULINE ADEE SCHOLARSHIP
Due April 15th at the Guidance Office
$500 non-renewable scholarship to provide assistance for tuition and textbooks for a student who will be graduating from Dixon High School.

THE LOUIS W. SCHUMM SCHOLARSHIP FUND APPLICATION
Due April 15th at the Guidance Office
The Louis W. Schumm Scholarship is funded through the generosity of Mr. Louis W. Schumm, a 1936 graduate of Dixon High School.  The purpose of the Louis W. Schumm is the awarding of scholarship grants to Dixon High School students in the top ten percent of their class to enable the recipients to complete post-secondary education in the field of their choice at the institution of their choice.  An endowment fund of the Dixon Public School District Foundation, entitled the Louis W. Schumm Scholarship Fund, has been established to award scholarships in his name.  It was Mr. Schumm’s intent to provide through the endowment an incentive to students who wish to continue their education beyond high school.

To promote interest in the Health care industry, KSB is offering 2, $1000 scholarships to Dixon High School seniors. Hard copies of the application are available in the G.O.

KSB Scholarships

Deadline: April 15, 2012
KSB is offering several scholarships to seniors entering a health care related field. All forms and applications can be found at www.ksbhospital.com or in the G.O.

WILLIAM H. JONES SCHOLARSHIP
Due April 15th at the Guidance Office
The Dixon Public School Foundation has established a scholarship on behalf of the Adele Pieper Jones Revocable Trust.  An endowment fund entitled the William H. Jones Endowment Fund has been established to award scholarships in his name. The purpose of the William H. Jones Scholarship is the awarding of scholarship grants to Dixon High School students in the top ten percent of their class so as to provide financial assistance to attend an accredited college or university.  Each year the Endowment Fund Committee will select a qualified male and female as recipients of the William H. Jones Scholarships.

Rock River Chapter of  IL Society of Professional Engineers
Deadline: Jan. 13, 2012
There is a scholarship available for a senior, planning to major in engineering, who has earned a 3.0 or higher GPA, an ACT score of 29 or higher in Math and 25 or higher in English or an SAT score of 600 or above in Math and 500 or above in Verbal. Applications are available in the GO.

Greenhouse Scholars
Deadline: Jan. 20, 2012
There is an application for a scholarship for a senior who has an unweighted GPA of 3.5 or higher, plans to attend a four-year accredited academic institution, is a U.S. citizen and has a household income no greater than $70,000. Applications are available online at www.greenhousescholars.org.

Univeristy of IL Beta Sigma Psi
Deadline: Jan. 31, 2012
Beta Sigma Psi Lutheran Alumni Scholarship will be awarded to a confirmed Lutheran male who will begin studies at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign campus, in the fall of 2012. Applications are available in the GO.

Farm Bureau
Deadline: Feb. 1, 2012
The Lee County Farm Bureau Foundation will offer a scholarship to seniors, pursuing a major in agriculture or agricultural-related field of study. Applications are available in the G.O. or online at www.leecfb.org.

Illinois PTA
Deadline: Feb. 17, 2012
The Illinois PTA is offering a scholarship to a senior in the top 1/3 of their class who is preparing to enter an education- related degree program that requires certification by the State Board of Education. Applications are in the G.O.

ARC of Lee County
Deadline: March 1, 2012
The ARC of Lee County is offering a scholarship to seniors who will be entering a field related to people with disabilities. Applications are in the G.O.

Applications due March 9, 2012
A $500 scholarship will be awarded to a student who is enrolled full time as a high school senior in the 2011-2012 academic year in Illinois, progressing normally toward graduation, and planning to enter college no later than the fall following graduation. Preference will be given to students attending the University of Illinois. Applications are available in the GO and are due by March 9, 2012.
